The Tallest Hotel in London: Shangri-La Hotel At The Shard

The Shard Shangri-La Hotel London - Mocha

The tallest hotel in London is set to open on 6 May.

Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London will occupy levels 34 to 52 of the glass-clad skyscraper. And will actually be the tallest hotel in Western Europe. Offering the most breath-taking views of the city, it will unfold in all directions to reveal iconic landmarks such as the River Thames, Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral and Big Ben.

The contemporary interior has been designed to complement Renzo Piano‘s masterful architecture of the 72 storey Shard – and of course the spectacular views. Reflecting the Hong Kong heritage of the Shangri-La group, the interior style is a blend of East meets West – classic meets modern.

Because of the Shard’s spiral shape, each of the luxurious guestrooms and suites will be individual in layout and design. They’ll have marble-clad bathrooms with heated floors, and mirrors with integrated television screens.

But the absolute highlight has to be the panoramic view. All of the rooms feature floor to ceiling windows and sweeping views. Some face north towards the City and London’s famous landmarks. While others face south, with vistas stretching towards the historic counties of Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

The most stunning view of all will be from the Shangri-La Suite situated on level 39. It provides a 180-degree view of London from the Palace of Westminster to The Tower of London. And encompasses Canary Wharf, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Maritime, dotted along the meandering river.

One of the most exciting features of the hotel at the Shard will be GŎNG – the highest bar in London – opening later this summer. Named after the interlocking wooden brackets commonly used in traditional Chinese architecture, they will be featured throughout the venue. The dramatic bar will include a stunning infinity pool and unrivalled views across the London skyline.

Described as “the perfect destination for sunset cocktails and late-night drinks” – it sounds like something straight out of a film set. And no doubt, it will become an iconic venue.
What do you think?

Oh wow! I would LOVE to stay up the shard – the view would be out of this world! Intrigued as to how much per night it would cost to stay though! Ha! Or maybe it’s best not to find out! Haha

    Thanks for an interesting read
