You may have noticed that plants are having a big moment right now in interiors. And biophilic design – the innovative design concept that blends nature together with interior design – is more popular than ever. So this festive season, when wrapping your gifts, why not create a crossover by integrating some natural elements to your gift wrap?
As well as being bang on trend, it will give your gift wrapping a slightly unusual twist that is bound to be a hit with everyone who receives a present from you.
Here are some creative nature themed gift wrap ideas to get you inspired and are easy to re-create. But for a new take on it, go for a walk outside in a park or green open space and see if you can find any original natural elements that you can incorporate.
1) Fallen leaves are everywhere right now and can be used to make great present toppers for rustic style gift wrap as above. Simply use plain kraft paper wrapped with jute string and secure a couple of leaves in different golden brown shades underneath. The addition of a few twigs will give it texture and even more of a rustic edge.
2) The beautiful warm shades of the leaves really take centre stage with this gift wrapping idea. Use tissue paper or parchment, and criss cross twine over it, then arrange the leaves underneath.
3) Simple, yet so effective. An arrangement of leaves in a range of autumnal shades tied up with a ribbon is all you need to dress up this gift box.
4) Different herbs can also be a great source of inspiration for your gift wrap. Like these bay leaves that have been threaded together with bakers twine. A personalised tag, completes the look.
5) This is one of my favourites. Sprigs of rosemary arranged in a grid pattern on simple kraft paper. The purple flowers fixed with a white sticker and little holiday message adds a great touch. And not only does it look lovely, but the smell of the fragrant rosemary will make your gift smell gorgeous too!
6) For a very seasonal look, combine pine cones with red berries and some evergreen leaves.
7) Or how about decorating your presents with a mini wreath made from evergreen leaves like this?
8) Fresh flowers add colour and such vibrancy. Wrap your gifts in advance in plain paper, then add your arrangement of fresh flowers last minute so they look at their optimum.
9) Alternatively, you can use dried flowers. And if you learn Furoshiki – the Japanese art of reusable gift wrapping – and use a silk scarf or napkin, then even the gift wrap becomes part of the present.
10) If you have plants with broad leaves, you could even use them entirely to wrap small presents for a truly nature themed gift wrap. Then top with arrangements of fresh or dried flowers. leaves and berries.
11) Good things come in small packages. For little pieces of jewellery, a walnut shell wrapped up with a ribbon makes an ideal little gift box.
12) So much more original than a plain bow. This may be painstaking – but what an amazing result! Pistachio nut shells are used to create a flower gift topper and blue green sprigs of succulent add contrast and add the finishing touch. The result is a truly original gift wrap idea.
