7 Ideas For A Happy Home

7 ideas for a happy home including fresh fluffy towels and flowers

How do you feel when you come home and open your front door?
Does it bring a smile to your face and make you feel relaxed?
Or do you feel stressed as soon as you enter?

Here are some ideas for turning your home into your sanctuary: a haven where you can just chill and rejuvenate.  A place that makes you feel happy.

1)    Have a clear open entrance way

Banish all the clutter from your hallway and keep furniture to a minimum. The last thing you want to be greeted with when you come home is piles of junk, or be forced to negotiate your way through an obstacle course.

2)    Clean and open your windows
Clean windows allow more light in, giving you a brighter home and a clearer view of the outside. By opening your windows to bring in fresh air, you’ll get rid of any stale smells and circulate oxygen. Fresh air can also help give you a sense of calm.

3)    Fresh bedding and towels
A simple luxury, but one that makes you feel like you’re staying in a five star hotel.  There’s nothing quite like stepping out of the shower and wrapping yourself in a warm, fluffy towel; or slipping into a freshly made bed with crisp, clean bedding.

4)    Add some greenery to your home
Not only do house plants and vases of fresh flowers enhance your décor – but they can also have positive health benefits. According to research conducted by NASA, house plants can help purify the air. They can also help make you feel more optimistic. And in a 2005 study by Rutgers University in the USA found that flowers induce positive emotions and make us feel happy.

5)    Set aside a place for books
Fill up some shelves with your favourite books in your lounge or a designated little corner somewhere in your home. Add a comfortable chair and you’ll have a little place where you can escape into another world.

6)    Music
Music is a magical thing. It has the power to inspire, lift the spirits, reduce stress and improve your mood.  Surround your home with it.

7)    Accessorize
Have photos and images around that give you happy memories or inspire you. And a few chosen home accessories that you love to brighten up and personalize your space.

What ideas do you have for making your home a happy one?

  1. Hello
Thank you for a great article – well written and useful content. In terms of indoor plants, I would like to add couple of points to the ones you wrote. First of all – the greener the better. Plants produce oxygen and the more you have the better the is the air at your home. Secondly I would like to say, that it is wise to grow different herbs. First of all, herbs smell good and secondly, you can use the herbs for a tea or bath later on.
    Best Regards
    Viola
