Have Your Ideal Home Now

We all have an image in our mind of our dream home.  It’s great to have goals to aspire to.

But it can be disheartening if we start to think we’ll only be happy if – for example – we have a home with more space; that we own, rather than rent; or have an extra room etc.  Sometimes, we even make ourselves miserable by denying ourselves things such as decent bookshelves or a new sofa, just because we don’t have our dream place yet.

Why not flip it around? There may be some aspects you physically can’t change – but you can improve on what you have to create your ideal home.

Take a walk around your space and consider the things you like about it.  These might include:

  • Architectural features
  • The quality of light in a room
  • The shape of a room
  • A view outside your window
  • A piece of furniture
  • Objects that you associate with good memories

Now think about ways you can use those features to enhance your home further.

It might be a fairly large project like knocking walls down or changing the kitchen.  Perhaps buying that modern sofa or re-covering an old one to give it a more contemporary look.

You could change the colours of the walls to create feeling of more space, add warmth or use a shade that is right on trend.

Why not find ways to create more storage in little used spaces, re-arrange the furniture in a room to give it a whole new look or simply de-clutter?  Adding some funky new home accessories can be a quick and easy way to add interest.  You might even want to get crafty and sew up some cushions or design a wall hanging.

Find things that inspire you, get creative and design an ideal home that makes you happy right now.
