7 Things to Love About Autumn

Summer is coming to an end.

As the weather cools and the nights draw in earlier, there’s a definite feeling of autumn in the air.

The unique colours and scents of autumn make it a feast for the senses. So with this in mind, I thought I’d share with you seven things to love about autumn.

1) The colours of the leaves

It’s the time when the leaves start changing colour and turn to vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow. Autumn leaves can be a great inspiration for adding decoration to your home. Capture the beautiful essence of the season by filling vases with branches and stems covered in colourful foliage. Or how about creating a table runner made from leaves like this?

2) The sounds and scents

The cooler weather is a good opportunity to get outside and go for a bracing walk. Inhale the crisp autumn scents and enjoy the sounds of crunchy leaves under your feet. (You can’t help but kick them up, and feel like a child again.)

3) A wardrobe update

After the flip flops and tea shirts, it’s time to bring out the stylish jackets, boots, and chunky sweaters. And perhaps shop for a few new additions to update your wardrobe …

4) Hot drinks

This season creates a sense of comfort and warmth. It’s such a lovely feeling to come in from the cold and enjoy warming drinks like hot chocolate, mocha or hot apple with cinnamon.

5) Soups

Homemade soup is comfort food at it’s best. Use the season’s vegetables like pumpkin, carrots and sweet potato to create delicious soups. Then serve with some fresh crusty bread.

6) Cosy home accessories

It’s time to add some cosiness to your home. Put some comfy throws on the sofa and your warm duvet back on your bed. Then light some candles to create a warm glow around your home. Ombre Thow in Sand Mocha

7) Curling up on the sofa

And when it’s raining outside, there’s nothing nicer than wrapping up in a blanket and getting curled up on the sofa with a good book or a film.
